Do Hokas run true to size?
It depends heavily on the model. The Clifton is Hoka's most popular shoe and runs true to size for most people. The Bondi runs large — wide and long — and most buyers size down half a size. Trail models like the Speedgoat run narrower than Hoka's road shoes and usually require sizing up. When in doubt, check the specific model in the fit guide above.
Do Hokas run wide?
Most Hoka road models have a wider-than-average toe box, which is one of the reasons they're popular with runners who have wide feet or bunions. The Bondi is the widest in the lineup. Many Hoka models are also available in a dedicated Wide (2E) version — if you need extra width, look for the "Wide" designation when ordering.
Hoka women's to men's sizing
Like all major running brands, Hoka uses a 1.5-size offset between men's and women's. A US Women's 9 = US Men's 7.5. Hoka produces most models in dedicated women's lasts — women should always shop the women's version rather than converting and buying the men's model, as the fit profile is specifically engineered for women's foot anatomy.
Hoka vs Nike sizing — are they the same?
The US size number is the same, but the fit is very different. Hoka road shoes are notably wider and higher-volume than most Nike models. If you wear a Nike Dunk Low in a 10 and size up half, you'd likely wear a 10 in a Hoka Clifton without any adjustment. The Speedgoat is an exception — it's one of the few Hoka models that is narrower than a typical Nike.
